this computer has been working fine. i did notice a windows update installed last night before i shut down. i let it install fully.
today the computer stalls at "starting windows" for about 10 minutes before it starts.

I loaded the latest bios. I disconnected all usb devices. I had windows look for any system errors and found none. I don't know what else to try.

asus p6x58d-e
windows 7
24 gig ram
i7 950
GTX-470
antec 1000 watt power supply
nec pa271w monitor
no other cards or devices

Not yet. I'm kinda gun shy right now.
I see someone else on this forum who did a windows update and had this same problem. Interesting....
I need to get some work done then I will try the restore.
The computer is working perfectly.... just takes 10 minutes to boot.

Ok, the computer is operating normally, but it takes 10 minutes to boot up. I have tried 2 different restore points and nothing has helped. Please remember that this computer has been working perfectly until this.

One clue: when it does finally boot up I get this Microsoft Windows text box: "You must restart your computer to apply these changes" I have no idea what that is about.

What should I do?
