[citation][nom]gnesterenko[/nom]A very half-hearted attempt to guide conversation back to topic:I just don't really understand the criticism of Win 7. MS has def made mistakes in past, but this isn't one of em.Hardware resources - my system is using only roughly 1.1GB of RAM outside of heavy database/spreadsheet usage or gaming. This is with ALL the eye candy turned on to the max and ALL the background processes running - defragger, anti-virus etc.. And only build 7000. Cut back on some options, and this is an OS that will run on >> Intel and will always be![/u][/i][/b]/hides[/citation]
Microsoft took the critisism from XP, and made Vista. Then took the critisism from Vista and made 7. The picture of the PC i linked before is actually running on startup at 480mb ram. Hell, most XP installations dont run that efficient.

[citation][nom]Flameout[/nom]i hardly call this news. i couldnt even bring myself to read it all. talk about yawnarama city[/citation]

This story showed up thursday or friday somewhere else. Cant remember where I read it, but it was almost identical. Charts and all.

[citation][nom]ProDigit80[/nom]+1 on hemelskonijn's comment on the 2000 look! The vista/XP look takes at least 50MB of ram to waste. If I had the choice, I'd also go for the 2000/9x/NT look!On XP I still use that look today, simply because my system runs more responsive. Too many eye candy are just a turnoff on laptops and mininotebooks.I'm sure after a while everyone gets used to the Vista looks, and turn some off,if that helps them gain some FPS in their games.[/citation]IT take you the huge ammount of 50 MB out of 4 - 8 GB of ram wow what an expensive thing. get real even mobile phones have 2 GB memory cards .. and you complain about this ... if you can`t aford to buy stuff like memory into your computer just shut up.

Dang, someone really cleaned up this thread. Geesh. Click happy moderator? Not that I care, seems most of the fluff has been edited out.

Windows 7 better be good since it's a Vista Service Pack. I think Vista has been through enough beta testing to finally start seeing some real progress. I just think it's funny that they're acting like it's a new operating system by charging you for it. Vista wasn't bad enough that the unfortunate souls that bought it don't deserve some sort of a break? How long was it from XP to Vista ... 7+/- years? From Vista to an entirely new operating system 2+/-? I'll buy Windows 7. I won't have to buy another MS OS for approximately 10 years at their current STABLE and USABLE production cycle.
