Windows 7 Toshiba Laptop won\'t recognize my new battery.

Hello My name is Cerida I need help I purchased a New Laptop battery for my toshiba window vista laptop and the laptop won't recognize the new battery the battery icon shows a big red X on the battery why is this and how can I fix it? Please help me thanks

Did you purcase the battery from Toshiba or from an aftermarket source?
