I have a small problem, my laptop won't start up passed the "starting windows" screen. I am using a Toshiba satellite C660, it is fairly old and I've had it for a few years but it was perfectly fine until yesterday. I have attempted startup repair, all I get is a blank screen.

I have found one way to boot it up and access windows files using lubuntu on a boot able USB, unfortunately I don't want lubuntu on it, I am thinking it could possibly be a RAM problem (which in my limited knowledge is impossible) as I've put it to sleep a lot over the past few weeks, but I seen someone with a similar problem and they tried to remove RAM, nothing worked, they solved it but didn't say how.

Is there any way I can fix it through lubuntu? As I say I can access it through bootable USB only...

If there is not a fix I will buy an external hard drive and move all important data to there using lubuntu, but before I go spend money on one I thought I'd ask. :)

Solution
A bootable USB worked, so I figured the problem wasn't anything major, I reinstalled windows and all is well now, used boot able USB to get files off and store them on external drive, the problem was corrupt windows files, maybe caused by forced shutdown and impatience or could of been a virus...

In any case reinstalling your operating system does the job, hope this helps everyone with this problem! 😀
