I have an 120GB (111Gb) SSD and for some reason my windows folder (specifically the winsxs at 20GB) is massive filling over 54% of my SSD. i would guess the problem started when i upgraded from windows 7 home premium to ultimate because i needed to utilise over 16Gb ram. i installed a couple of language packs, but i do not understand why it is so big.

If anyone thinks they have a solution to this please share, but i suppose i am expecting everyone to say format and reinstall :'(.
Thanks in advance!
btw i have hyperx 3k 120GB SSD, 20GB ram, amd FX8350, GTX 760 4GB, asus sabertooth r2.0 and a 1TB HDD

Have you run disk cleanup to remove the update files? I bet that is a majority of the problem....

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/delete-files...

There is a section under "system files" that explains how to remove them.
I have tried that and the update files are only about 1GB, and i cleared it, it didn't really change anything

I used ccleaner and from 1GB free i got 21GB free, but im pretty sure it wasnt all ccleaner as i moved quite a few programs from C:/program files (x86) to my HDD, but thank you, from using windirstat i think it has cleaned up about 10GB. my windows folder is still quite large at 46GB, is that about a normal size for windows 7 ultimate?
i am currently uninstalling lots of the language packs so bear with me , see if that fixes it.

I have been there tried that.

my installer folder is still 12GB and the winsxs is 18GB, but i managed to make other things smaller, such as del lots of languages. (10gb worth)

well no it wont take up the rest, but about 20-30GB is not hugely big and until i need the space, ill just live with it

well if you saw my pic you could see that disk cleanup cannot clean up the golden 10GB
