Hello,

I'm having an issue with my PC lately, I'm used to have the memory usage at 2 - 2.5 GB usage (when not using the pc), lately the memory usage started to jump to 4-5 GB usage, although I didn't add any new software!
I've tried to monitor which software is using the memory intensively, but I couldn't, I've noticed something really weird - the memory starts at 2 GB at at first, and after a minute it suddenly jumps to 4GB, although nothing much changed on the processes tab.

I've tried looking for malwares - but found non, this is really weird.

Solution
Under My Computer > Manage > Service & Applications > Services. Scroll down to a service called Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service and change startup to disabled.

Reason this happens is WMP tries to index and if you have a Video that is not right somehow it will turn into a loop munching your memory. There will be a video you have that is unfinished. Disabling the network service will end the cycle completely from it ever starting backup after boot.
I just found the reason, apparently I wasn't looking at all users process (although I have only one), but I found a service called (Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service) that was draining my memory, once I closed it the memory usage got back into the 2GB area, WOW 😀
so I also closed it from Run -> msconfig -> Services -> turn it off

eh, so you bought & paid for 8G of memory, and you're concerned that windows is actually using it??? isn't that the whole point of buying ram - to actually use it? i only worry when stuff crashes because i don't have enough, not that i have too much.
