Windows 7 USB crashes

Hello,

I seem to be getting "random" crashes on my Win7 installation. This is win 7 ultimate 64-bit running on an Asus M4A79 Deluxe with a Phenom II 965 cpu. Everything is running at stock voltages and frequencies.

Either moving the mouse after a long while being away from the PC may trigger the event, and in "other" cases the "USB (something)" appears as the guilty party in the BSOD dump screen.

I am thus considering that perhaps my USB controller is crashing my box under win7. Windows XP works flawlessly on the same PC.

Any ideas?

Thanks

is the RAM on the QVL list at ASUS, they are picky about RAM, I have one too, I have spent the last 3 months trying to figure out what the problem was, CTD, BSOD's random and not able to duplicate consistently, and it seems that ASUS is a little more finicky than other mfg's about memory, find out what memory and model number/type and go to ASUS and see if it is listed in the QVL list, mine wasn't, get memory that is, I set the CAS manually until I can get a new board(Gigabyte)and it made a world of difference, not completely stable but much better

Yes the RAM was QVL.

Finally, I found out that the "Retail Plus+" USB Wireless G from Office Depot was the culprit. Soon as I removed that, everything has been fine.

Case solved.
