Windows 7 VS Windows 8 For Gaming ?

i plan on running a lot of games on my new computer and wanted to know which is the best version of windows (7,8,8.1) for gaming ?
i know windows 8 has less background operations/task but when i tried windows 8 it felt like nothing was compatible and it was super annoying !!
so which one is the best for gaming performance as well as web surfing etc ???

If you felt annoyed using windows 8, get windows 7.
Most likely your computer will be full of ram (at least 8 gb I guess) so it will work fine on 7.

Some people mention win 7 does improve FPS for games... but only a few more, so you won't notice a difference.

Unfortunately windows 8 is better for games... It supports directX 11.1 which ms decided not to support in windows 7. It translates to higher fps in the latest games like bf4

Yes windows 8 gives better performance in games not windows 7. Just install a start menu gui app and it makes 8 look like 7

AMF FX-8120 (bad i know)
AMD RADEON 7850 2GB GDDR5
4GB RAM (upgrading when i have the money)
500w PSU

if windows 8 is faster then its worth it

They ran a test on new games at HardOCP running BF4 in Win 7 vs 8.1.
Here is a link in case you want to take a look.

Win 8.1 improved the experience and performance by a little bit, but the difference wasn't huge.

Well as per the review above, you will get a benefit with smoother graphics when running Windows 8.1. So that is probably the best bet.
Plus maybe 8.2 will bring back some of the better features of win7
