I am currently running Windows 8.1 Pro and i am satisfied with it.
But i wanted to use Windows 7.

Windows 10 is not my option ,i have used it and it was worse.
Worse UI,compatibility, speed and Auto-File Corruption and Deletion accompanied by Graphic,Windows Update and Cortana issues.
My next pc build has an Intel Core i7 6700 and ASUS H170 Pro Motherboard , i have heard that Windows 7 wont support Skylake.

Should i go for it or just install Windows 8.1 once again?

I use my pc for just gaming and net surfing. So not getting updates wont be a big issue for me

I just wanted to know , whether Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit would run fine on Skylake .
The technician will install it for me at the computer center , it would be a dvd install.

I will be using this pc for a few years so another upgrade wont be in my line.
Thus i want to know which os works fine and which will last in the long run.

Please help me.

1. If Windows 7 supports Skylake and would work for years , then please tell me what are things i would have to do to make it best.
Like Installing USB 3.0 along with the OS install , i must ask the tech to install it . Anything like that?

2. If Windows 7 doesnt support , will Windows 8.1 support Skylake? I mean work fine for years?
I dont demand support from Microsoft so i just want to know whether it would work. Windows 8.1 is more advanced than 7 , so any chances of running fine on Skylake for years?

3. What does Microsoft actually mean?
Will they end Support for Windows 7/8.1 on Skylake or will Windows 7/8.1 stop working on Skylakes after the period?

In short , i want a OS which would work fine on my pc without any error for years (I wont be upgrading any hardware, this is my final). I have read that there may also be performance issues with Windows 7 and i would hace to upgrae to Windows 8.1 if needed. It will again be a mess of OS re-installation. Backup,copy....all those stuff once again,i cant even think about it , in that case which OS is best for Skylake in overall. So Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 8.1 Pro.

Solution
You already had this question up.
1. Windows 7 does support Skylake, you just have to patch the install media. If your tech can't figure out how to do this, they aren't worth the money your paying them.

2. Win8.1 will work on it as well.

3. Windows 7/8.1 don't just stop working, the OS will run as long as it has support from hardware and software developers. The OS's have a period of time where they are supported by Microsoft for updates/patches/etc. Windows 7 will continue to get security patches but nothing else until Jan 14 2020. Windows 8.1 will get full support untill Jan 9, 2018 with extended support ending in Jan 10, 2023...

Then should i go for Windows 8.1?
It will be a good opportunity to get 7 and Aero Glass .
But what problems will i face with 7 on skylake?

Past Skylake, I cant say how well the support for Windows 7 or 8.1 will be, but for now either OS works just fine with the hardware with the proper patches in place. However some applications will over time stop supporting older OS's. We're already seeing some games require Windows 10 as a minimum requirement and that trend will only continue to grow as time goes on. By the time 2020 rolls around I would be very surprised at any modern software that launches with support for Win7 since at that point the OS will be over 10 years old.

I just wanted to make it clear.
Just one more thing, is this the only patch i need or are there more ?
Pls help me.
Thanks.

Yeah, 8.1 should be better than. Although W7 would not just stop working on W7 it's unlikely MS or Intel would introduce any refinements to Skylake operation like they would for W10 and maybe, just maybe for W8.1.
I find it slightly incredible that somebody would base OS choice on it's looks over it's advanced features. There's also matter of SW, specially games that may require W8.1 and greater and also matter of DirectX 12 that can be fond on W10 only.

Well while a lot of people had no issue with Win10, some people had some real horror stories. It sounds like the OP is one of those poor souls, so I can understand being very hesitant to go back to it. I would really recommend giving Win10 another try now that the anniversary update is out and the OS has had a year to mature. Win8 when it first launched was a damn nightmare. I'm still not a fan of it, but I will admit that Win 8.1 made it a much more viable OS. I think the same is true of Win 10 and the multitude of updates and fixes that have come in over the last year.

Well thanks for the help.
I'll just use Windows 8.1 once more.
In terms of age and performance Windows 8.1 would be better than 7 , i think.
Windows 10 never satisfied me , thats why i switched back to my real Windows 8.1.
now as i am upgrading i checked out specs of new pc and found that its i7 6700 .
I just thought , i have to reinstall os at all costs then why not 7?
Checked internet and found that it wont work properly.

The key reasons why i like 7 is :
Compatibility
Stability
UI

Most games i run these days are running on compatibility modes , as 8.1 is advanced and doesnt support older games at first. The games all run , thats the plus point i have. None of them have shown any problem.

With windows 10 even compatibility modes dont work, i was totally taken out by that, no gaming for a few months, until 8.1 gets back.
