Windows 7 ,Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 ?

Here are the specs of the PC im going to build:

Intel Core i7 6700 3.4GHz
ASUS NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1070
Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR4 RAM
WD 1TB HDD(not new)
Kingston 120GB SSD
CM 700W PSU
ASUS H170 PRO Motherboard

I want to know which os should i choose?

In my list are :

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit
Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit

I currently use 8.1 and its great with all updates in place.

7 was my all time favourite even if i havent used it personally.

I have used 10 and it sucked....but i think 10 is better for future.....

I cant decide.

7 is great and it will run all old and new games fine.....because my 8.1 itself is running almost all games....
But as my PC is a Skylake i have to worry .....i wont get any updates after
2017.....i think....7 is a great os but newer hardware and software are being built and designed for 10.....for eg. DX12 games....
I will definitely miss out future titles if i choose 7 but will get to play all old games and current ones.....but still my pc isnt secure completely.....

ZOTAC NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 730 4GB Low Profile
8GB DDR3 RAM
WD 1TB HDD
350W PSU
Gigabyte H81M-S Motherboard
Windows 8.1 Pro

It runs great with all updates and drivera in place.....
I have run windows 8.1 on the same pc before but at that time the pc had a different spec :

Intel Core i3 4150 3.5GHz
Intel HD Graphics 4400
4GB DDR3 RAM
WD 1TB HDD
400W PSU (Its 400W but is old and broke up recently)
Gigabyte H81M-S Motherboard
Windows 8.1 Pro


The OS wasnt perfect with this spec but after the upgrade it was great.

I upgraded to Windows 10 10240 when i had this spec.
It sucked a lot..
Lot of bugs,errors,lag,incomaptibility etc...
I hated 10 a lot because nothing worked......i cant say because it was an upgrade.....the install wasnt perfect .....so i dont know whether there will be any benefits of clean install.
Plus my hardware was pretty low end so i dont know whether i would get better performance with a more powerful hardware......
Because 8.1 worked like that.....more ram and a gpu made it work great....
I dont know whether windows 10 too will work like this....
This time its on an SSD so will there be any differences?
Windows 10 has never gotten better ......has it?
I have read about it in many websites....
Some say its great while some say its trash and will be forever.

Should i try out 10 again?
I will get DX12 and a Secure OS(privacy sucks in 10 but i mean , i would get support in future and lots of privileges that poor 7 wont).

Should i go with 10 or go with 7/8.1?
It will be cumbersome to reinstall games like GTA 5 again....so i dont think that the alternative way of installing 10 first and getting 7 if not satisfied with 10 , is good.

I am still hesitating to go with 10 but its the only way for me.
Old games wont work for sure....but will try it out.
I dont want to regret my decision so asked the experts.

Will DX9,DX10,DX11 games run on Windows 10
Game i have date between

1995-2013

Oldest i have is Road Rash and latest is GTA 5.
I will move on after getting the ideal os for my pc.

I have listed down lot of games to get.

So which onr
7 , 8.1 or 10?


Windows 7 is vulnerable to hackers and it Windows 10 is more secure in that way. But 10 is worse in some things like compatibility.
If 8.1 is an intermediate option (security+compatibility)between 7 and 10 i will go for it. But still want to know which is best for me.

in my experience, most windows 7 to windows 10 upgrade ended in major issues. but all clean install windows 10 where flawless, not sure if it was the process their used to perform the upgrade from 7 to 10, but bleh. I never used win 8 I saw it as a hack version like Vista.

I Use Win10 on 6 different pc from I5 to Q8300 PC's and I run games like COD black ops (2010) DX9c. COD World at war (2008) DX9, etc. that are older games without a sing issue. as for newer games, Blade & Soul, Dayz Stand Alone, Defiance, Fracture Space, Battlefield 4, Heroes and GEnerals etc all work splendidly on Windows 10 Pro

what is the best for you , Win 7 is defunct, no more update, Window 8.1 will be next year... your options are running out my friend.
