For some reason Windows 7 won't detect all 8 cores of my fx-8320. I tried almost everything hotfixes, custom core unpacking programs and messing around in BIOS. Msconfig only shows 4 cores.
Sorry for being noob, but how do you check your cores using msconfig? Check by going to task manager, click the performance tab, click view > one graph per cpu.
Make sure your bios is up to date, some motherboards won't recognize newer CPUs unless they get updated. Most newer motherboards update their bios inside windows, check BIOS download/files tab in the manufacturer's motherboard model page.
Most probably this is the cause.
I solved the problem by installing EasyBCD and setting the cores to 0 under advanced settings>developer then I applied the settings and shut the computer down completely ( not restart ). This makes Windows 7 detect all cores. The reason this happened is because I upgraded from a FM2+ (4 core) processor to this FM3+ (8 cores).
Best aswer goes to i7Baby for being the most helpful.
