Windows 7 Won't Recognize PS4 Controller

was working fine the other day but now when i connect it windows says usb device not recognized. i tried pressing the reset button but it didnt work

The ps4 controller is not officially supported by windows, steam is what allows it to work from my understanding. When not playing a steam game the controller wont work without some third party application like DS4Windows.

i know but i had it working fine before and now its not recognized for some reason

The controller is not supported by windows.... Officially at least. The Xbox 360 and one controller doesn't work unless you install a driver same with the PS4. Find a driver and download it.

The xbone and 360 controller are plug and play, just plug it in and windows will install the driver automatically and it will work. The PS4 controller requires a third part driver I think, not sure why it worked before and its not now.
