Windows 8.1 BLUE

Hello,

If I am already running Windows 8, when Windows 8.1 BLUE is released in late 2013, will there be a $ charge to upgrade?
Or will it be a Free download?

I wouldn't think so, it will probably come in the service pack.

it will be an update 8.1
it is just like a free regular windows update but probably much bigger in size

I have read in lots of trusted websites that it will be a regular update.Free and probably in the form of a service pack

I was wondering if I should delay my next computer purchase until after the release, but if it is going to be a free update, then that shouldn't be necessary.

Microsoft has not released pricing information for the Windows Blue service or the first update. All indications are the the updates will be priced based on the new features that are added.

Windows updates (patches) will continue to be free. The only thing you would be paying for would be new features. If they do charge then the pricing would be comparable to Apple Mac OS 10.x updates.

There are no details on pricing, but Windows Blue is expected to be low-cost much like Apple’s yearly Mac OS X upgrades, which retail at $30 per license.

I would say free, 8.1 Blue is really what W8 should have been but was rushed out the door incomplete to hit seasons sales.

We really have no idea at this point. As the release draws closer, Microsoft will release details about pricing if indeed they are going to charge for the 8.1 version. We will just have to wait and see...
