windows 8.1 boot issue

Windows 8.1 won't boot after initial install an restart. This is my first build and it went well, windows installed but when I restarted the computer it goes past the bios screen but hangs up on a red screen where I am able to move pointer but nothing else. Any help apreciated..

Figured it out. I had a hdmi and vga cable plugged in to gpu. Once I changed the monitor to hdmi it all works.
