Windows 8.1 CD-Key query

I want to install Windows 8.1 from a CD i received when i bought another computer. The CD-Key had been used to activate the copy of Windows 8.1 on the other computer, which has since been upgraded to Windows 10 for free. If i re-use the CD-Key, will the copy of Windows 10 be invalidated?

You can't use that Win 8.1. It was consumed in the Upgrade to Win 10.
