It happens for last month. After some time randomly my Windows 8.1 starts acting weird instantly. My mouse left click changes to double click, right click stop working at all, keyboard stop working at all, start screen and button not working at all, that menu that pop up when you mouse to right down corner does not appear at all. Clicking at anything in the taskbar open a new instance of it. Loging off does not help I can only hard restart which helps. I am sure it is windows related because Start does not work as well. Is there any update Windows did to f*** up everyones PC? I have laptop.

Hi! I have the same issue. After a recent windows 8.1 update my mouse stopped working completely! I had to go into my bios and enable USB compatibility and then it started working... kind of. Now it works for the most part but depending on the mouse I'm using. My MS Intellimouse will double left click randomly after a single click and if I switch to my simple logitech 2 button mouse it will randomly force the cursor to the center of the desktop and sometimes right click on it's own randomly. I just tried switching from a USB 3.0 to a 2.0 slot and it seems to be ok now. I will post a followup and let you guys know if anything else odd happens. This is something Microsoft needs to take a look at since newer mobos are using less and less 2.0 ports.

I use USB 3 mouse and have USB 3 ports. I used Windows reset function and it is ok now. But still I have plenty updates left. I will check it after I completely update it. Also confirmed it was Windows issue.

windows 8.1 did change the max polling rate for a mouse. Some of the old gaming mouses had poorly written drivers that would poll 12000 times a second. I think they set the limit to something like 200 times a second. You would want to get a driver update from the vendor (check for a driver date in 2014)

Well 12000 times a second is lettle too much. I do not thing even bus can handle tis speed.
