Windows 8.1 doesn't have Bluetooth settings

I got a bluetooth usb "dongle" but i cannot use it because i have no bluetooth settings available. Nothing appears in the search bar and my pc does not even see the usb plugged in. I have all the newest updates and drivers. Please help.

Go to the device manufacturer and see if they have drivers on their site for that device. But first off, plugging that thing in doesn't get windows hardware wizard trying to connect it at first? Does nothing show up in Device Manager as well?

Have you also tried other USB ports?

tried other ports and nope, nothing happens and nothing in the manager. Also i got a cheap Chinese one so they do not seem to even have a driver of their own. The thing is that the reason i bought it is because i remember that i had the "enable Bluetooth" option and i though i should use it. But now it is gone.

Try going to Network and Sharing Center and tell me if you see any available bluetooth devices? If not you probably got a dud. Sorry Chief.

nope, nothing...i hate windows 8.1..i had no problems with 7 but here its just a problem after a problem.

I think you need to confirm it works , so the next thing to try is to find someone elses computer to test it on
