Hi All,

I'd really appreciate your help in the following matter:

I'm installing a TabletPC with Windows 8.1 Embedded Industry Enterprise.
I need to set the screen orientation to Portrait (270° rotation). I can successfully set the rotation to the desired setting, and after restart it's still ok.
The problem is, when I shut down the PC, and start it up again after a few minutes, the screen orientation returns to the default (Landscape, 0°) value.
And the strange thing is, when I do a restart after this, the rotation is set to 270° again, as it should be.

I can't really understand why this happens, why the rotation is set back when I make a startup, and set back to my settings after a restart.

Thanks in advance!

Best Regards,
Gergely

That's just hiding the actual issue. Considering it helped though, you have orientation sensor issues. Probably the hardware was never meant to work with 8.1 or the drivers are funky and don't work properly without the sensors being on for a reasonable time.
Sounds like a hardware state issue with the monitor, or if you mean "set rotation" as in turn the display, the accelerometer/magnetometer (and ball switch in really old/cheap devices). Basically the thing is getting reset and doesn't register properly because windows starts up too fast. Could be other issues (like BIOS related shenanigans ) too though.

Hi,
Thanks for the response, I'll do a more thorough research.
For now it seems that the following setting solved my problem:
Disabling Auto Screen rotation through registry:
