Windows 8.1 freezes when watching YouTube videos

About a week ago I just build myself a custom gaming PC. Playing games and running intense programs are no problem on my computer but whenever I watch YouTube videos for a certain amount of time, usually 20 minutes, my computer freezes and displays my theme color all over the screen in lines. I know my ssd and hard drive are both fine but what else could be causing this problem? I've tried multiple different browsers but the problem still occurs. This only happens when watching YouTube videos for a long amount of time. Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Solution
Might be the driver conflict ing in some form. Try updating the one with the caution symbol

Right click the driver, update through the internet as it may help

I did not get the problem when going into safemode. YouTube and windows never froze up. I'm going to try disabling hardware acceleration and see how that works.

So after unselecting hardware acceleration, my pc is still freezing even when viewing videos from other websites that have adobe flash. This is getting to be very strange. All my drivers all up to date and working properly because I'm able to play intense games with no problem. This may sound silly but could it be my wifi card?

The WiFi card would cause connection problems. Drivers, flash player, web browser settings or graphic card would cause graphic problems in browsers

Since it worked in safe mode, I suspect a driver problem.

Check though device manager and check if there is anything suspicious problems like a caution symbol next to a driver etc.

Try this:

1.Go to “Tools>manage Add-ons”.
2.Under the “Show:” change the dropdown to “Run Without Permissions” .
3. Disable “Shockwave ActiveX Control”.
4. Go to “Tools>Safety” and click “ActiveX Filtering” (should have a check mark when enable).
5. Go To Page -> “Compatability View Settings” and add the website “youtube.com”.

Pl tell me if it still does'nt work ... :)

Hello Manish, I tried following your steps to solve my problem but my PC still crashes when viewing videos for a curtain amount of time. I also tried rolling back my drivers and updating my Adobe flash but still no luck. I did however see a cation symbol on my PCI simple communications controller but not on my Display Adapter which is inserted into a PCIe 3.0 x16.

Try Youtube after booting in safe mode - if it works in safe mode then my best guess will be reinstalling the drivers online

Try re-installing your Graphics driver and if possible Windows diagnostics as below...
First try System File Checker
Winkey plus 'X'
Choose Command Prompt (Admin)
Type sfc /scannow then Enter

It finds and fixes errors in Windows, but doesn't always report them. Run it and see if the fault disappears after re-booting your system
If corrupt files are found that can’t be fixed, try

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth (Observe spaces before /)

Re-run SFC

To view CBS Log

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >sfcdetails.txt

Search C drive for sfcdetails.txt or navigate to C:\Windows\System32 and scroll down.

As it turns out it was the PCI simple communications controller that was causing the problems. After going to my motherboard website and finding the correct driver the problem has been resolved. I'm now able to watch both flash and HTML5 videos without any problems. I never would have thought that not installing drivers on the conventional PCI controller would cause these sorts of problems as it is mainly used for sound or a USB addon card. Thank you very much for your time, effort and input.
