Windows 8.1 install

Okay so i built my pc and am trying to boot up windows. I have the 8.1 disc in my old PC and im trying to put it on a flash drive, but it wont come up in the My Computer menu. Does anyone know how this can be fixed. I just want to put it on a flash drive.

This is going to sound dumb but the sata cable was unplugged. So I lost 3 hours of my day.
