Windows 8.1 Low resolution screen problem

Hi there, I recently reset my laptop to its factory settings as suddenly started working slow etc. Its a HP G72 with a near enough 1080p screen. However, now the native resolution is 1024x768 and it looks horrible compared to before. I can't change the resolution as the resolution is on recommended and not clickable. I've tried to go to windows updates but that's just endlessly searching without anything coming up and have no idea what else to do? I have restarted, shut down and started etc but same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please download and reinstall the video driver from the HP website and check
