I have a MSI GT72 laptop with a 980m card OS is 8.1 with all patches and driver updates installed. On boot the laptop hangs at the MSI screen, it then go black, and then boots up again this time getting past the MSI screen and loads the OS. This only occurs when the laptop has been shutdown/powered on and NOT on restart. There isn’t a traditional BSOD message on the screen when this happens rather I am only seeing the BSOD event in the event log. I ran the crash dump analyzer and found the nvlddmkm.sys file to be the issue. I tried uninstalling, deleting the NVidia folder and doing a fresh install and the issue is still there. I even went as far as manually replacing the .sys file but still the issue remains. While playing games etc. there are no issues it just does a reboot each time I do a power on.
Any ideas would be helpful.
