Windows 8.1 slow internet over wifi

I have 30-40Mbps on my nexus 7 and on my laptop over WiFi i get 3-4Mbps and on Ethernet i get 30-40.Please help!

What type of adapter are you connecting with the laptop? Is it in the same relative position with the nexus 7 when testing speeds?

Sorry is picked that by accident. The adapter was working fine yesterday it is a Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 B/G/N.And the Nexus is in the same spot as the laptop the router is a bought 10FT away of both.

Is there a difference in signal strength? Also - try changing the angle of the laptop to see if that makes a difference. Are you utilizing a USB drive of any kind? The realtek adapter shows that is utilizes the USB bus? Anyway - make sure you have the most current driver - I have noticed where microsoft updates have overwritten the drivers.....

I'm going to try to update the drivers now.And there are full bars.

Drivers and "interference" account for 99% of the problems. 10 feet is a large enough distance from the router (if you are next to it, it can result is slower speeds) - and other devices in the immediate proximity of the laptop could cause problems (i.e. the NEXUS 7 sitting right next to it during testing). Try putting them about 10-15 feet apart for testing....or turn off wi-fi on the tablet while testing.

You should be getting better internet speed over that adapter.....at least close to full speed. If you aren't using any USB devices, there may be an issue with your adapter.....

If you have a local service center - I would take it in.....

Another benefit of living in Austin - HP has their offices here....along with Intel, AMD, Dell and a few others.
