Windows 8.1 Standard 64-bit questions

Ok so I am in the process of building a new computer and I was wondering if I were to buy a Windows 8.1 key online will I be able to put the key on a usb and fresh install on a custom pc that has never had an OS or is it more difficult than that?

As long as you're able to boot from USB, it should be that easy.

One more quick question. Do you know by any chance the difference between OEM and Standard versions of windows 8.1?

If you mean what's the difference between OEM and Retail versions, then OEM versions are tied to the first system (motherboard) you install the OS onto. It cannot be transferred to any other system. Additionally, the OEM version has no official Microsoft Technical Support.

Retail versions can be moved from one system to another (but can only be installed on one system at a time) and you do receive technical support from Microsoft if needed.

Functionally, there is no difference between the two.
