Hello,
I've searched around and have seen that this error has happened to quite a few people, but here's what's happening to me.
I installed a Windows update recently (something to the security framework or something like that) and now when I enter my password to log in, it says "Welcome" and I get the little spinning load symbol. My HDD LED tells me that the disk is working at 100%, but it never actually loads Windows.
I tried putting in my Windows installation CD and then ran command prompt. I ran 'chkdsk' and it said there was an error in the uppercase file. 0 bad sectors. I ran 'chkdsk C: /r' and 'chkdsk C: /f' and the error went away, but I'm still stuck with the infinite welcome screen.
Does this sound like a bad hard drive? This would stink because the computer is only a week or two old... but could anyone recommend a next course of action?
