Hey everyone,
Recently I've been having a problem where Windows is very slow to complete simple tasks at startup such as opening the file explorer, the task manager, or even just going to the start menu. I'm using a Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD as my boot disk and have had no problems with it until a few days ago. Generally, my PC boots up in about 5-6 seconds (and it still does) and as soon as I log in I'm able to do literally anything I want without having to wait for anything to load.
However now the boot times are still fast, but when logging into windows I am not able to open up file explorer or go to the start menu as they'll take sometimes 20-30 seconds to finally open. Programs like Skype and Steam that used to open and be usable right away now take around a minute or two to finally open after startup. My SSD is not really full, as I've got 33 of the 120 GB free on it right now, so I'm not sure what could be causing the slowdown.
Any ideas on how I can fix this? I've tried clearing space before (I had 20GB free, but now I've got the 33 I mentioned), used CCleaner to get rid of temp files that might be slowing it down, fixed registry issues, etc. and nothing seems to work.
Thanks.
