windows 8.1 was download from the internet did not give me an activation key how can i put a activation key in when i dont hav

my gateway came with windows 8 and windows8.1 was download from the internet it work for a short time when I turn it on it comes on ok but wont let me go into yahoo or any thing until I put in an activation key which was not giving to me so what can I do? or even get back windows 8

You can contact Gateway and if they installed Windows under an OEM license they should be in a position to provide you some help in this matter.
