Windows 8.1 won't install any update?

Windows 8.1 has been updating itself as long as I've been using it but now it won't install anything. I noticed as my other laptop had the Windows 10 symbol while this laptop didn't and I found to have two important updates that wasn't installed, one of them being the update for registerering for Windows 10. Besides that there's 18 updates to install now.

Everytime I try to update it simply stays at 0%, had it run overnight and still 0%.. I tried to run the tool to reset Windows update and it says it solved the problems but nothing happens. Sometimes the update fails with code 80073712

I don't have a Windows 8 DVD, my laptop came with Windows 8 pre-installed and I upgraded to 8.1. The Windows 8 install files has to be somewhere on my drive I guess?

Burn yourself a new Windows disc:

Create a Recovery USB

Yes I tried it but I'm not getting the Windows 10 icon in my status bar nor will the update install. The laptop is more than capable of running Windows 10 compared to the requirements listed by Microsoft so that's not the problem either.

I got most of the other update installed now but still struggling with the last 2 important ones

Flashdrive worked regarding the updates, everything is installed now.. no windows 10 icon though but hey I'm sure everything will be OK. Thanks for your help guys much appreciated
