[SOLVED] Windows 8.1 wont install because screen resolution is too small

I am trying to install windows 8.1 on my computer but the screen is too small. is there a solution to this?

while booting usb install drive, hit F8 few times, it should give u some options there, try to choose low resolution

Once you have the install done, unplug the larger display and the screen should change its resolution to the internal display.

im installing it from windows, not booting it. I don't want to lose my files.

I assume you have a laptop. As mentioned above, the easy work around is to use an external monitor with the required resolution. Once you have done this, you simply need to install the drivers for your graphics card and the resolution will change to the laptops recommended resolution. OTOH, most computers that can handle Windows 7, can handle Windows 10; further it is a very easy path to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and Windows 10 has a lower minimum resolution, so it won't be the issue it is with Windows 8. Further, running Windows 8 with lower resolution, negates the ability to use many of Windows 8's apps.
