A while back I built my own computer, and used an old hard drive with all of my data on my new computer. The HDD came installed with windows 8, which is what I wanted. But, everytime I boot up my computer I get a blue screen that tells me to activate my windows 8 license. So I bought a new and faster hard drive, so I could put all of my old information onto the new hard drive but leave windows 8 on the old one. What I would like to know is how I can put all of the info from my old hard drive into the new one, without windows 8, but I really want to keep all of my settings and preferences for windows on my new one. How should I go about doing this? Sorry if im confusing you, this is hard to explain.

Solution
Install the new HDD, format it, make 2 partitions and simply copy the needed files from the old HDD to the new one, on the second partition. Keep the first one for installing Windows on it.
