Windows 8 - Can I just plug in a new mobo and go?

Hello all,

I only do this kind of thing every 4-5 years, so I can't ever remember the process. I'm currently running windows 8 and I want to upgrade my processor (to 4690k), which in turn apparently requires a new mobo (msi z97 gaming 7), and since I'm in for a penny, might as well be in for a pound, so I bought new ram and a new gfx card too.

My question is, where I want to keep my existing SSD with Windows 8 on it, can I just unplug everything from the old (current) mobo, install the new mobo with all the new hardware, plug everything back in, and fire it up? (Assuming I'll need to install drivers for the mobo after I fire it up... but yeah, will that work?).

After doing some research, it appears Windows will work fine, I'll just need to reactivate?

Have I forgotten/overlooked something?

Thanks for your time.

An internal storage device won't work as an external would.
So,I assume you might get some minor/major errors depending on the case.
