i am trying to install winows 8 from winows 8 on to 750 Gb HITACHi HD of Asus K53SM. Whenever i attemt to install, i get the following error message stating ' we couldn't create a new partition. [ Error: 0x80070017]' I've tried numerous suggestions posted online but no success.

1. Either you can Copy All Your DATA in External HDD, then deallocate all the space of HDD (i.e delete all partitions), you can do this by booting a flash drive (eg. Pendrive atleast 8GB Recommended) with an windows 8 ISO file... Boot from your Flash Drive, after deleting all partitions, create new partitions as per your need... there would be option to create/delete/format an partition, if not the click advance options or something like that, you would have it there...
One more thing, the would be an option to upgrade or custom, select custom...
After you have created partitions, select the partition in which you want to install windows (usually C: ), and click install. It would roughly take 10-15 Mintues...

Or

2. Download Windows 8.1 ISO file, extract it in a folder (don't boot it as it may still show the same error), after extracting that folder you will find a setup.exe file... Just open it, it will automatically detect in which drive you Operating System(OS) is installed and install it's OS, no need to copy your data from PC to External HDD;
After installation check your C_Drive for windows.old folder and delete it, as you don't need it anymore...
if its doesn't select the Drive automatically, then use custom option and select the drive in which the OS is installed (C: Drive)... The process of installation may take more time and your PC restarts often (3-4 times)...

if after extracting and executing the setup.exe file, and error message pops up the boot the ISO image in a Flash Drive and follow the 1st method mentioned above, but i guess that won't be the case...

there is unallocated space in my hard drive which is the 1st stage of installing windows 8. i'm unable to create or make new partition from that unallocated space. i can't pass throuh this stage for completion of windows 8. i was using winows 8 on my laptop suddenly my laptop restarted while loading the windows 8 logo. after many hrs when i tried to format using winows 8 cd all my partitions had gone and there was unallocated space of 698gb. my problem started here aterwards

What error does it exactly while you try creating partition...

whats your internal memory, i guess around 1TB,

boot a pendrive with an linux(Ubuntu) iso file
two options will appear
1. try
2. install

click try,
use it to copy your data in your laptop into some external drive and

the again boot the ubuntu and click install,
just keep on selection the next step
untill there is a step which includes the HDD partitions
try deleting the partitions from there and turn off the system without installing the linux OS

boot using the pendrive in which you have windows 8, boot it see if it allows creating partitions this time...

there is a software knows as yumi for windows, which is used to make a pendrive bootable, it supports boot for windows and linux, you can boot a single pendrive with windows as well as linux...
yumi v2.0.1.8

as you are unable to use OS in your laptop try booting it from some other laptop, make sure that laptop has
windows installed, and you have ISO files of linux and windows...

i've tried every possible solution available on the site but it failed. i still getting that error . i think i have to buy new hard drive for my laptop i.e the solution i have in my mind

If none of the above work your hard disk is dying or dead. The only real option is replacement.

As SSDs are cheap now, I would highly suggest replacing the disk with a decent 256gb SSD (like the Sandisk Ultra or Samsung 850 EVO) for performance increases and longer expected lifespan.
