Windows 8 defender displays sites Norton would have nblocked or warned due to potential viruses.

With XP, a year or so ago, if I went to some sites, norton would pop up saying either the site may have a virus or it would just not let me go to the site maybe. But nothing like this happens with Windows 8.1 defender and no norton is installed. I can go to the same sites as if defender is only blocking out the bad part of the site, is this true?

norton blocked those sites because they were the location someone downloaded a virus. it happened enough and norton flagged the address. Windows Defender has no such active web page monitoring.

Norton and Bitdefender Internet security do a great job with the infected or risky sites.
