So I finished my build in December of 2013. My build entails, i7-4770k OC@4.3GHz, 8gb RAM, dual ASUS GTX 760 DCUII, Asus Z87 Pro Mobo, XFX Pro 850 Gold PSU, 3TB Toshiba HDD and a wireless PCI Card. I'm running Windows 8.1 and so far I've loved throwing everything I can at my build. It handles all workloads without effort and never seeming to bog down even the slightest bit.
My problem, which may not concern most people, but it bugs me to death, is when I boot up my PC not everything loads up properly on startup.
Example: Today I booted up my PC to do some gaming before I went to work. ALL of my little notifcation area icons popped up as they should. I get home from work, PC was shut down properly before I left, and I turn it on, login and I'm missing a few icons down next to my clock.
I probably have too much loading on startup but why the inconsistancy?
The programs that show up (or should show up) on the notification area are as follows:
Volume Control
Wifi/Network Icon
Action Center
Bing Desktop (Gotta love a beautiful new picture every day for my desktop)
Intel Rapid Storage
Realtek HD Audio Manager
ASUS AI Suite 3
A little cloud storage icon (Not quite sure what it even does, but it's been there since I finished my build
Network iControl (another ASUS app for the mobo)
Chrome Notifications (Google Chrome news and whatnot)
Curse Client (Addon Downloader/Updater for my games)
Netgear Genie (Network software for managing my router)
Battle.NET Launcher (Launcher for my Blizzard based games)
EDIT: Forgot about my gfx control center and my Razer Synapse for my keyboard
I've removed several programs from starting up because I thought it might help. They include:
Ventrillo
Skype
Origin Game Launcher
Ubisoft Game Launcher
Steam Game Launcher
I'm sure I've missed a few, but you get the idea.
I haven't noticed a pattern, just that most of my program icons don't seem to appear. If I open my task manager they're all processed as though they are running and they seem to load up just fine. My biggest annoyance with this is that since they're not handily in my notification area I have to go search for the programs or scan through the tiles menu to find and load them. Even if I've got them set to minimize to the notication area, if that programs particular icon did not load, it will not even if I completely unload the program and open a new instance of it.
My question now is, is there something I did wrong when I set my computer up? Is it a fault in Windows 8-8.1? Do I just have too much going on even for a computer like this?
I ran all of this even when I had my old dell e521 with Vista and it all loaded fine on there, just slowly.
