I've tried to install Windows 8 a few times over the past 6 hours and every time it just black screens. I first put it onto a flash drive (16GB) and switched my boot to the flash drive with Win8 on it. Then, when asked which drive partition I wanted to install it on, I deleted all that were on there because I wanted a fresh start. There were only 2 partitions, one was my system and only had 100mb on it and the other had the rest of the space for my HDD. I deleted both and installed Win8 on the last thing available.

After this the installation went pretty smoothly, asking me to remove the flash drive so it may restart my computer and complete everything. After this happened the Win8 icon showed up with a small loading icon beneath it. Then, just a black screen. I can move my mouse around and find the cursor, but there is nothing to click on. It never changes to anything other than a black screen.

Solution
with newer pc that have onboard video and a gpu with windows install the mb and windows may be falling over to the onboard video port and not the gpu. easy test is on windows reboot with black screen move the video cable to the other video ports and see if you see the desk top. if you do go into the bios and set the prioamny display from auto or ipgpu to peg/pci if you have a gpu and turn off muilt monitor support. also check that the mb bios rev is up to date if it old by a few rev use the mb bios updater inside the bios to update it.
