Windows 8 Installation Trouble

I just bought a new Samsung 840 Evo SSD for my pc. I was planning on using it for booting windows and for a few games. I unplug my HDD and plug in my SSD. I go into my BIOS settings and change SATA mode to AHCI. I also make my first boot device my CD ROM. I start pc, open boot menu (for some reason there is a little plus sign next to hard drive) and choose CD ROM. The boot menu closes and nothing happens. 🙁

I am going to take a shot in the dark here from past experiences with Windows 8 machines and say it could be a legacy/UEFI issue. Try messing around with those settings?
