So I have a PC and I bought a Windows 8 disk and license, like the ones in the envelope with the code on a sticker. It's always worked whenever I want to re-install windows and its just been as simple as to boot from the disk and format the drive, then install.
The problem now is that I have just tried to install by doing the same and so the drive is formatted but it gets stuck at 55-56%. I googled this to check and people said just wait but now after waiting it gives an error code which means that part of the disk is corrupt. Obviously this means I can't install from this now so I tried to get an ISO burned onto another clean disk I have lying around but when I try to active my product key it won't accept it and so I can't get to the menu to burn it onto the disk.
I don''t really know what to do and I really don't want to have to buy a new key so can someone help me find a way to get my key to work. I don't know whether it's because it's already been
used or just not playing along but any advice woulld be appreciated.
Thanks

look at the windows 8 disk. there two iso images from microsoft. home and the pro version. the pro version wont take home oem keys and home wont take pro keys. make sure when you try the reinstall there no partions on your hard drive. also look at the cd your using make sure it not a figerprint or dirt stopping the cd. use 8g usb stick and the free windows media creation tool or iso to usb tool. if your goingto go from 8 to 10 you can with the new window 10 iso it take your windows 8 key.

Thank you very much, the windows 10 iso suggestion worked best and the product code was accepted as well so all is good now!
