Question windows 8 iso

Hello everyone, I just had a laptop crash and I need to get a new hard drive. I don't have a recovery disk but do have the key under my battery. can someone help me get a windows 8 ISO? I tried Microsoft but it just does a validating screen and goes no further. If what I am asking is not allowed then please disregard but help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance

I don't think there's any other legit way to get that Windows 8 ISO besides Microsoft.

Format the flash drive and try again?

While I'm sure it's a rare occurence I did have a similar issue where the ISO (Win10), for whatever reason, didn't work correctly and I had to reinstall it.

Edit: Does it try to validate during installation? If so check if there's a option to skip it for now until it's installed and then activate the key.

i guess its the country you're in because it is not asking me to validate anything when trying to download the windows 8.1 ISO from MS

Update: i am not sure if this site will allow this or not but the latest version of rufus (USB creation tool) now allows you to download windows 10 and 8.1 directly from the utility

Yeah there really isn't a way to get a Windows 8 install ISO as far as I know unless you buy a DVD from eBay or another 3rd party site, but most official sellers don't sell Windows 8 anymore at least as far as I know. Windows 10 you can get the ISO direct from Microsoft.

For your laptop, you have 3 options:

1. Build a time machine, and go back in time to before the drive crashed. Using the manufacturers utility, create your own Win 8 recovery DVD or USB

2. After the drive crash, go to the manufacturers website, and purchase what you could have made for freee (See #1)

3. Install Win 10 on this new drive. It may or may not automagically activate itself.

Actually from Windows 7 I am fully able to access that Microsoft web page https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO, select the ISO / language and download the 32/64 bit Windows 8.1 ISO.
