Windows 8 Issue

My friend has a laptop with licensed windows 8 and recently he has been getting this issue with his windows he starts up his laptop normally but when he tries to open a program or something else after 4, 5 seconds he gets a blue screen and returns him to his desktop, he doesn't have a virus because he has an anti-virus program and it doesn't say that he has a virus, any solutions?

- Run SFC to verify Windows files are not corrupted: Windows key -> cmd -> enter -> SFC /scannow -> enter. It looks to me like your explorer.exe is crashing.

- Do a malware scan in safe mode. While you are in safe mode, see if this problem occurs.
