So I built my new machine, (I7-3770k, Radeon 7770 2g, 8g ram,) and I decide to put windows 8 on it. At first it was good and then the random freezes started happening. I'll be gaming and then, FREEZE. I wont be doing anything (Literally just sitting next to my computer listening to music) then FREEZE. I don't have to restart when the freeze happens. Everything just stops and then resumes after like 20 seconds. It happens about every 10 minutes or so.

Im using Winows 8 pro if that helps.

Do you have autoupdating turned on? Windows 8 likes to take up a lot of Disk resources (according to the task manager) whenever it installs an update. This slowed me down a lot in the beginning until I decided to just do manual checks.

I dont have any updates to do and I don't think that's it because if you don't know, the I7-3770k is a pretty monster CPU.

That's not why I asked, I wasn't talking about the cpu. According to task manager it utilizes 100% hard drive resources when it wants to do updates, which might slow down other programs that are also trying to get at the hard drive (at least for an HDD)
