Windows 8 laptop will not boot at all

Hi guys,
I have been tasked with fixing someones W8 laptop, it will not boot at all, it stays stuck on the Samsung logo screen with the spinning loading animation;

Repair doesn't work
Refresh is stuck 'please wait'
Safe mode will not start up at all [Stuck on Samsung logo]
Restore does not work

I do not have a recovery disk at my disposal, and the option to wipe all and reinstall is a very last resort as the owner does not want to lose the files on the laptop.

Any ideas?

If the automated Repair doesn't work, nor does the Refresh, Reset, or System Restore options, you're pretty much stuck. You can take the drive out of the system, hook it up to another computer and save the owner's data, but you're pretty much looking at a wipe and reinstall after the data backup is complete.
