Ok so I have a new build just finished and posted. I then take the product key for W8 pro 64 and use it on a clean install. Then after updating mb drivers via install disk and then avg, ccleaner and gpu drivers via usb I try and call Microsoft to reset or revalidate my OS key. After 75 min of getting absolutely no where following their quick and pleasant "sure this wont be a problem," they give up and assign me a brand new product key. Of course I'm like "thank you god lets this be done already" when I get an error code 0x80072F8F. The Microsoft rep then told me she had to take my number and pass me onto someone who must get paid more than she however they are to busy at the moment so don't expect the call until tommorrow morning.

So can you the ppl figure this out faster then Microsoft?
ask any questions you need and ill gladly answer them. Will post conclusion upon it happening one way or another.

Your post isn't clear. Was the product key accepted properly (and you activated the OS) before installing the additional drivers? When you installed Win8, did you install from commercial media (MS made DVD) or from a downloaded source?

I installed windows 8 64 from a disk on first boot. I used a product key that came with the disk but was previously assigned to another pc. Windows excepted the key but was of course asking me to update with a new key. I then chose to update my motherboard via the disk and then using a usb I updated my gpu and installed avg and ccleaner. Then I began my 1 hr plus sitting and doing nothing while Microsoft began troubleshooting windows.
Technically Windows was not fully activated as of the time I installed the drivers as it is still currently not registering as so and is asking me to update. However trying to put in either the original product key and or the brand new product key received via Microsoft support works as it gives me the listed code above.

in addition after looking this code up it says it is possibly a date and time error or a internet connection problem. my date and time are correct but possibly <40sec off and I am using the pc right now to post this so my internet is working but I do receive certificate errors on just about ever site I goto including sites like google.com.

like I said my date and time are with in 40 sec atleast of being completely correct. idk exactly what the second isbut it has benn set to internet time since I was on the phone with Microsoft earlier. As for the license. I have 1 product key as of right now. the original key was for and old build. I new I was going to need to have that key deactivated by Microsoft. Now that old key is deactivated and I now have a new key from Microsoft support and 1 pc. the old pc is scrapped.

Solved, here is how.

Left click date and time in bottom right corner of screen.
Select "Change date and time settings".
Click the "Internet Time" tab.
Click "change settings".
Make sure box is checked and select "time.windows.com" as the server.
Click "update". ***If you get an error but know internet is working click update again until the post goes thru.***
Problem solved existing Windows Key register error that was flagged.

This was self solved with taking the time to post on a thread 5 min after receiving a customer call date and time reminder from Microsoft....cmon man.

No I was advised not to update to 8.1 by customer support until they called and fixed the issue however I have just resolved the issue and will be updating shortly. thanks for your support.
