Windows 8 Problem URGENT

Ok, I installed Windows 8 and wasn't really having any problems till today. The computer is EXTREMELY laggy on a game such as Borderlands 2. And My specs are WELL above the recommended.
Windows 8 64bit Pro
16 GB Ram 8x2
Geforce Nvidia GT 640 1 GB
Intel Core i5 3.10 Ghz

My laptop which has lower specs runs Borderlands really well.

Another thing is that this computer restarts A LOT. I mean, sometimes immediately after I finally get into the OS thingy. (I can see the apps, then it restarts. Well, it crashes.)

What in the world could be going on???? It's making me so frustrated as I just got this 2 days ago.

Try and update your network card driver. Or better yet, update to windows 8.1.
make sure your machine is saving its crash dump, those can be looked at to determine the reason that the machine crashed.

Hi Axton,
have you upgraded to windows 8 or done a clean install?
if it is an upgrade then you better do a clean install as there may be some junk program installed or some kind of virus may be there in your system.
But if it is a clean install then recall which program has been installed recently and try to run the game after removing that program.
also check your antivirus... is it good enough to protect your from any threat and if so, is it updating properly.
