Hello, I am changing my whole setup to an FX 8 core and a GTX 770, but I am using the same hard drive in the current computer I am using. It is relatively new, but I have stuff like Steam, Mumble, and Microsoft Office installed on it. I want to reset my hard drive, but I don't want to lose certain files like the ones listed above. I have looked around and there isn't a real specific answer for it, so I decided to ask this community. How should I go about this?

Solution
If you are reinstalling windows then you can't. Reinstalling windows means reinstalling just about everything. Things like steam and origin and a handfull og games that don't write to the registry can be moved about.

If you want to move the current win8 installation to the new one then you simply don't delete what you dont want deleted. To move win8 'as-is' the hardware will need to be simular to the old motherbd otherwise you will need to sysprep the system (with the generalized hardware option) before you move the drive over.

Not asking that, I want to be able to choose what items that I don't want deleted on the hard drive. I have stuff like Microsoft Office that I want to keep on it because I had to pay for it. How can I choose what items I don't want deleted?
