I'm trying to fix a problem on my mother-in-law's relatively new laptop.

Recently when she signs in, just after signing in, there's a message "Windows in preparation (it's actually in French: "Windows en préparation". She's French), then it takes about two minutes, or longer, with the message "Windows in preparation" on the screen.

When someone else signs into their account on the same laptop, there is no problem. It's nice and quick. The problem is just linked to my mother-in-law's account.

I'm thinking a solution would be to just open another account for her to use on the laptop - but that's not the best solution.

I would disagree, Creating a new account is probably the best solution, trust me i know, this has happened to me before.

Windows 8 sometimes messes up accounts and the only REAL solution's are to mess with the User Account Settings, or to just make a new account and import the important data from the old account

Whatever you decide to do, Good Luck
