Hi,
i have an acer windows 8 tablet.
all of a sudden when trying to log into my account i am being told i have entered the incorrect password.
I know everybody is going to tell me that that must mean i have entered the incorrect password but i am 100% sure i haven't, it is just a 4 digit code the same as my pin.
there is only 1 other profile on the tablet that does not have admin privileges.
i also do not have a keyboard so i dont think i can boot in safe mode?
The only possibility is that my partner has changed it which she swears she hasnt, unless there is something that she could have accidentally done?

If your tablet signs in with a Microsoft account, maybe that password was changed elsewhere. If so try logging into it on a browser. You can also request a change of passwords from Microsoft as well.

You should be able to get to safe mode using Windows+Power buttons when restarting (and Power+Up Volume is usually forced restart)

If you're using a microsoft account, you shouldn't be able to use a 4 digit pin, and your pin is not the same thing as a password even if the numbers are the same.

Most likely your friend/partner changed the password or account, and either you no longer have the right password or you're trying to log into the wrong account. Check to see if the account is indeed yours.

account is not linked to a microsoft account.
when i go to sign in it says 'enter password' i though in the past it said 'enter code' or 'enter pin' is that even a thing?

Yes, if you mess up the pin number several times it'll ask for a password instead. You can also change the login method using the buttons under the "password" box.

not seeing any option?
but i think i have seen them in the past
