So, in a nutshell, I tried to remove windows 8 and install windows 7. It's not working.

I'm growing tired of windows 8 and wanted to revert to a more stable OS that I liked very much, and knew that I had to enable legacy booting in my system before I could use an install disk, thanks to microsofts control issues.

I got an install disk, booted it and the windows installer came up. I've installed VISTA, windows 8 and Ubuntu (different, I know) before, with out any issues, and I could usually just do a clean install without any problems. However, this was different. I received this message when trying to format my drive from the installer: "windows could not be installed to this disk. This disk uses a GTP partition style"

I left the installer, and decided to go back to windows 8 to see what was going on, little did I know that wasn't going to happen. I needed a bootable disk or usb in order to load anything. I went back to my bios, disabled legacy booting, and booted from the harddrive, and apparently I needed to repair my OS as a system file was missing. "Winloader.efi".

So now I'm stuck. I made a windows 8 repair disk which failed for whatever reason, and I have no other way of booting up my pc.

I've heard of DBAN, but have no clue if it will work. Could anyone help me sort this out?

Trial and error I suppose 😵
