Windows 8 Wont Activate

I've had my computer for a while and recently this screen popped up saying I need to activate windows even though I bought my computer with windows already installed. When I type in my product key it says its invalid. Is it possible someone stole my product key?

If you got your computer second-hand or from a questionable source, copied keys are a possibility. If it is from a major brand like Dell, the certificate should be built directly into the BIOS and activation should be automatic.

I've had my computer for like 2 years and this is the first time its done this. Its from hp

If you bought it directly from HP, and this is the original OS...contact HP.
