Couple of things. Windows 95 is really, really old, and doesn't support modern equipment. Turn down the RAM on the VM to 384 MB or less, make sure the virtual hard drive is 2 GB or less, and turn off hardware virtualization.
If you have access to the newer build of Windows 95, OSR 2+, that should improve compatibility with newer hardware.
One last thing, Windows 95 needed a patch to support AMD processors over 350 MHz, Intel Pentium III processors over 1 GHz, and Pentium 4 processors. You could be running into the software timing loop error.
