Windows 98 hardware compatibility

I'd just like to ask if windows 98 can run on newer machines? Because I'm worried that if i put it in a newer pc, it won't recognize onboard audio/video and other things because of driver problems?

You'll need to check the particular machine. It won't run on my m/b (MSI P35 Neo). You can always run it in a VM; otherwise buy a cheap old PC off eBay.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. The specifics are, Windows 98 will not run (by which I mean will not run at all) on many modern m/bs; it may, or may not, run on others.

The suggested max ram for Win98/SE is 512 mb.

After that, performance improvement
is small, stays the same or decreases slightly.
Probably better to use XP.

New video cards no longer have drivers available for 9x either... in fact, ANY new hardware within the last 3 or 4 years only have Win XP or later drivers available. The only exception is workgroup printers... but even a lot of those won't have drivers for 9x either.
